James is a warm and empathetic General Psychologist with a diverse skillset. He has a background in general psychology, vocational counselling, sport and exercise psychology, performance and motivation psychology, and crisis counselling. He is able to assist those experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, work/sport performance concerns, relationship issues, addiction, alcohol and/or substance use, grief and loss, and overcoming other barriers to wellbeing.

James has worked with clients with anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders, psychosis, and complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). James has lived experience with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and enjoys working with clients in this space.

He uses Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support people through their toughest experiences. James welcomes all people from LGBTQIA+ communities.

James completed his undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Queensland in 2016 before undertaking the Masters of Psychology program in 2018 with a focus on performance, sport and exercise psychology. He has worked with the Australian Paralympic swim team, The Queensland Softball team, an elite eSports team (Rainbow Six: Siege and Super Smash Bros), and state-level cross country athletes. He has a passion for assisting people to find motivation and achieve their best in their chosen field. In his spare time, James enjoys playing guitar, riding motorbikes, working on his car, and playing golf.

James has appeared on ABC Radio Brisbane several times to discuss psychological issues and share his thoughts and advice.
