Frequently asked questions

How do I get a referral?

The most common way is with a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. However, we see clients though other Medicare plans, WorkCover, NDIS, and Private Health. Chances are we can see you. If you're not sure, please contact us to discuss the options.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by visting the Bookings page or by contacting us via phone or email to discuss availability.

How often should I see a psychologist?

It depends a lot on your circumstances. It is common for clients to start out fortnightly for the first few sessions, then move to monthly or quarterly until they feel they don't need to come as often or at all.

How long do I need to wait for an appointment?

Our clinic is still new, so we have minimal waiting times between 1-2 weeks. It may take longer if you have limited availability. If you can't get an appointment within a week, we will work with you to access support in the meantime.

What should I bring to my appointment?

If you have a referral (e.g., GP) that you haven't already sent us, please bring it along. Otherwise, you only need to bring yourself. It's common for people to not be clear about what they want to achieve. That's OK, we will unpack things together. You can also bring any other reports or assessments you have completed in relation to your situation.

How many sessions do I need?

This varies person to person, situation to situation. Some clients' therapeutic goals may be met in as few as 3-12 sessions through 'brief' therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). However, not everything can be managed briefly, in which case we may utilise 'deeper' approaches like Schema Therapy to help you unpack long-term problems.
